Giraffes Can't Dance...or can they?

My favorite Lesson :)

Kindergarten created dancing giraffes under a moonlit sky inspired by the book "Giraffes Cant Dance." While reading the story under the document camera to the class, students were asked to pay close attention to the movement of the animals and how they are dancing. Next students create a composition inspired by their friend Gerald the Giraffe and using their imagination show Gerald dancing.

This lesson was a guided 3 day lesson. Day one, read story and paint sky and grass. Day two create giraffe step by step using the document  camera and color using markers. Day three cut out giraffe, paint onto background and using white crayon, add stars and moonlit sky.
