Artist in Residence 2012-2013 Black History Month Quilts

5th grade students recently had NC artist Jennifer Woods come and work on a collaborative art project honoring Aversboro S.T.E.M. program and Black History month. Students researched the influential African Americans that contributed to American lives. Through technology, athletics, activism, and the military, 5th graders designed four quilts as apart of their legacy here at Aversboro. Using 6 inch foam squares and recycled cloth, students worked together to build a quilt with an overall theme while honoring the African Americans of the past.

Thank you Aversboro Family  for taking the time to help share this wonderful integrated arts  experience with our students.
