First Grade Cityscapes
Currently first grade is learning about cityscapes and water reflections. While learning about shapes, students were asked to design a unique city that focuses on a one of a kind architectural design. Once drawn in pencil, students used watercolor markers to fill in their cities and shapes, and sharpie to outline the fine details of their buildings. Using a spray bottle, I sprayed the bottom half of their paper and asked them to fold it to create their water reflection.
Artist reference: Monet (due to his use of building reflections on water) and Van Gogh (city scape of the "Starry Night" scene)
Integration: math and shape attributes
